Section 4 introduces how to work well with children while the teacher teaches English to children in the classroom. Two points comparison if one is better than the other has been the most concern. Should an English teacher work with children or should he just teach? Should he/she discipline kids or let the children follow the teacher? When teaching children, is it good to command or persuade children that they learn what the teacher teaches? Which one is more important in teaching English class- lesson plan or teaching method? Will children remember for a long time if the teacher asks them to memorize what they should study or learn while doing something related to the lesson? Some times, school administrators take advantages on teachers and students whereas teachers don’t commit any wrong doing. In this kind of situation, who should we blame-teacher, student, or administrator? Even curriculum design should be the main concentration points in teaching English to primary level children. Which curriculum is the best for your children in the class? All this matters are being dealt in this section.
Section 5 is about psychological approach for teaching primary school level children and what mentality of the teacher is suitable for students of this type. Teachers’ response were categorised in four ways: practices related to their epistemological beliefs; practices related to their beliefs about motivation; practices related to their belief about pedagogy; and attributional believes that were not tied to specific teaching practices.
In the last section, thesis writer Prof.Dr.David Ngin Sian Pau describes what makes a teacher successful in teaching kids and how to assess the success of the English teacher at this level. The moment the teacher knows that his or her teaching was professional but not just doing and finishing the delivery of teaching duty, we can figure out that the teacher has been successful. Paying much attention to the reading of this thesis will make the reader a better English teacher to primary level children.
